Building mailing list. What's the latest buzz?

One of the most common topics among internet marketers seems to be building a huge and responsive mailing list. Marketers' innovations never seem to be in short supply when it comes to building mailing lists:

* Autoresponders
* Squeeze pages
* Safelists
* Pop-ups
* Subscribe forms...

The list is endless.

But one key feature that seems to elude most marketers is how can you build your mailing list using other peoples' efforts? One such tool, the Promotion Bar (http://alibrown.mi3093.hop.clickbank.net), has just been released.

The cool thing about this little tool is that once installed on a web site, it can spread like wildfire potentially to hundreds, maybe thousands of web pages with no further input from you. Visitors to your web site get the Promotion Bar by pasting a single line of code on their web sites to add functionality to their web sites:

* Their visitors can bookmark their web sites
* Their visitors can make it their web page their home page
* Their visitors can recommend their web page to their friends

Each of these web pages then start sending you subscribers as they use the "Share it With a Friend" feature

The result is that you end up with hundreds, maybe thousands of web sites that just keep sending you subscribers with no further input from you.

Over the weekend I just joined AGLOCO™ with their slogan ‘Own the Internet’, it is the newest thing on the Internet – an economic network similar to AllAdvantage from the late '90's

There will be no complicated process to learn/teach. I will use the Internet just as I always have – and still make money, believe me I know I surf more than 5 hours/month

This came to me in my email recently (thank you Jack), and
I feel compelled to share it with you. Take a few minutes
read it through entirely and you will understand why!

Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs....
who arranged a running competition.

The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see
the race and cheer on the contestants....

The race began....

Honestly:

No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs
would reach the top of the tower.

You heard statements such as:

"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"

"They will NEVER make it to the top."

or:

"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one....

Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher
and higher....

The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!!
No one will make it!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up....

But ONE continued higher and higher and higher....

This one wouldn't give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower.
Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort,
was the only one who reached the top!

THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know
how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found
the strength to succeed and reach the goal?

It turned out....

That the winner was DEAF!!!!

Response Magic

Once you have completed Step 1 (Quick Start) and Step 2 (Fast Start Traffic School), your next step is to get your autoresponders set up and populated with pre-written messages to prepare for your sign-ups.

The first will be your Response Magic - I can't stress this enough - you NEED Response Magic, you can not jam out on this one - it is the heart of the system, it allows you to manage your "list". You will hear it many, many, many (did I say many) times that the "gold is in the list"

Log into your "back office" at http://payitforward4profits.com/members, using the Username and Password you chose when you signed up as a PIF4P member.

Go to the Marketing Tab and Click on the Link that says: Response Magic.

The link will initially refer to signing up with Response Magic (once you have done so, the link changes to Log in to Response Magic) You will sign up for the Response Magic Home Edition.

Note: You MUST do this through the members' area of PIF4P to receive our integrated version of this program. You will receive a alphanumeric ID that begins with "dch" and a rather bizzarre password that you will be able to edit once you are able to adjust your settings. (If your ID does NOT begin with "dch" - contact Response Magic immediately - they will ask you to go through the process again from the PIF4P members area and transfer the payment to the integrated account).

You will now be able to login to Response Magic from the link under "Marketing".

Your first order of business is to complete a profile.
Click on "Settings" located on the menu bar
Click on "Personal Settings" from the drop-down menu

Complete the form with your personal information - this form holds the data that will be merged with your autoresponder messages when you download them - eg.

Main Email Address:		~~ownersemail~~
* First Name:		~~ownersfirstname~~
* Last Name:		~~ownerslastname~~

For Website: be sure to include only user name for Pay It Forward 4 Profits (the letters are formatted to complete the remainder of your URL. In the options part click box to enable hit tracking, that comes with the program. When all is entered click UPDATE SETTINGS.

You will also have the option to change that bizzarre password at this point to something you will find easier to remember. There is an icon at the bottom of the page "change password".

Next you will want to ensure your lists are available to import your messages.
Click on Settings from the menu bar
This time click on List Settings from the drop-down menu.

You will need the following lists in the near future, if they are not ALL available you will need to add them. Lists must be in this order - they are in essence "hard-wired" to your websites so mixing them up is NOT an option.

List 1- CFM Prospect Newsletter
List 2- PIF4P
List 3- 3STEP

If All 3 are not listed click on Add a List, complete the field with the name of the missing list, then "ADD LIST"

Complete the required fields (formatting is a bit wacky here but it will give you the general idea)

LIST TITLE:
	FROM FIRST NAME:	~~ownersfirstname~~
	FROM LAST NAME:	~~ownerslastname~~
	FROM EMAIL:	~~ownersemail~~

Be sure to UPDATE the information (you will notice the email clears itself when the screen rolls over - this is okay - you will receive an email requesting confirmation of this email address, once you have confirmed it, abra cadabra it becomes available when you return to this option)

Now you are you ready to load up all the sales letters/copy into your new auto responder!

You need to go back to the members area http://payitforward4profits.com/members
Log in with your username and password.

From the menu bar, choose MARKETING, then click on RESPONSE MAGIC.

Choose the option to Click Here to Download Response Magic Emails.

Copy PIF4P's Response Magic Emails

Which List of Emails would you like to copy from?

Select the List that you would like to copy these emails to.
Here are the Lists in your Response Magic Account:

WARNING: Copying these emails will override any existing emails
you have created for the list you are copying to.
You will lose these emails permanently!
Please make sure that you do not have any existing emails
that you would like to keep, in the List you are copying to.

The "source" and "destination" should always match.

Follow the same procedure for all three lists. Now your Auto Responder is fully loaded with messages.

Now one last step - you want to ensure yourself the import was indeed successful (just for your own peace of mind).

Go back to Response Magic Control Panel
(Log in to http://payitforward4profits.com/members
Choose "Marketing" -- "Response Magic" -- "Log in to Response Magic")

In the middle of the screen you will see:

Well folks -- change is in the wind again! Again, you say! Yes, again!! If you haven't accepted the fact that we will be seeing changes on a regular basis, get over it! Give yourself a shake, pick yourself up and take a real serious attitude adjustment, NOW! Go for a walk if you must. Have a beer if you must. Do whatever it takes. The reality of it all is, we live, work (thrive, if you will) in an ever changing environment - the internet. Charles Darwin is quoted as saying: It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. So here goes ...

One of the easiest and most entertaining Internet home business opportunity, that's getting a load of attention lately, is blogging. A blog (weB Log) is easy to set up, easy to run, quite a bit of fun, and a good way to make money selling advertising. Your blog can be a great Internet tool for marketing your own home business opportunity or MLM but, by it's nature, will be far more subtle than a banner ad or advertising on a home business web site.

You will find excellent, detailed instructions for creating your blog in your Internet Marketing Success Guide found in the back office of our training website: http://payitforward4profits.com/members.

If you are concerned about content for your blog, you can simply locate a few free article sites and findrelevantt free-to-publish articles you would like to share. Write an introductory paragraph or two, paste the article (being sure to keep the original links intact), put your links at the beginning or end (or both for that matter) and "bingo" you have content.

However, your blog can also be an Internet home business opportunity in itself. A blog is essentially a journal that is displayed on the Internet. All you need to do to add to the blog is log on and post the day's thoughts, activities or anything your want to share. Then you "ping" the search engines and they pick up your blog and it's out there live. You can use the example from the Success Guide - Ping-O-Matic or, an alternative, is Pingoat. Ping-0-matic will occasionally get hung up so it is always wise to have an alternative. Switching back and forth between the two will also give you the opportunity to ping different search engines. Be sure to "ping" only after you have added fresh content - the search engines LOVE fresh content.

If you are wanting a blog as an Internet home business opportunity obviously you have to make it more revenue-based than that. The best way to do that is by using the blog audience as a market for someone else's business. In other words, selling advertising on the blog.

However, a blog can also be a very powerful marketing tool for your business, and some people actually earn an income just from blogging alone. Blogs are easy to maintain, because they are informal and conversational. Their volume is maintained, sometimes exponentially, by encouraging others to comment or respond to postings. A blog is much more "human" than a Web site, because invites and encourages conversation. You will want to have more than one blog, depending on your intended audience. You should consider a blog devoted entirely to your primary.

Perhaps one of best ways to make money with your blog is through pay per click, contextual advertising. The best known of these products is Google's "Ad Sense". Google actually has the ready made advertisers for you. The advertiser simply indicates the keywords and industry and Google does the rest - finding places for these ads to be hosted. You, as the blogger, place links on your blog site and any time someone goes to the blog and clicks on the ad links the advertiser pays Google and Google pays you - pretty simple. This also works in reverse if you choose to be a Goggle Ad Sense advertise.

Blogging can be a source of traffic to your website, as well as a chance to make a bit of extra income, be sure you don't allow this to pass you by.

Traffic Exchanges

Traffic Exchanges are a wonderful tool for initiation into online marketing. They will give you good short term traffic - ultimately you will find the trade of time for traffic is not what you want to be doing on a long term basis, but it is a good start. You will market your PIF4P and Cashflow123 sites through the exchanges as your audience here is obviously people who already have a business or some experience with online marketing (otherwise they wouldn't know what a traffic exchange was for).

There are detailed instructions in the Success Guide to help you get your first exchange set up - Traffic Swarm. Once you have become comfortable with Traffic Swarm, be sure to find yourself a few more exchanges you can also use. You are looking for ones that will give you as close to a 1:1 ratio as you can find. I personally stay away from "autosurf", my take on it is that if I'm autosurfing, there is a pretty good chance that's what's happening to my site as well - can't expect a whole lot of good traffic that way!!

Not all exchanges require you to write an ad, for many the only requirement is your URL.
You can make better use of your time and dramatically increase your exposure if you are working multiple exchanges, you have to wait for the timers to count down anyway. You can do this by either using a browser that uses multiple "tabs", or by opening multiple windows with a different exchange in each window.

Many of the exchanges will give you bonus credits once you have surfed the required number of sites. Included in the credits you will often receive "banner" credits. We have a banner available for your PIF4P website - you will find it under "Marketing" in the members' area.

Most of the exchanges will have a format similar to the following for your banner entries. (You will not just copy and paste the html code as it is on our site - you would use this code "as is" if you are loading the banner onto a website, creating a landing page or perhaps on a blog.

You want to be sure to keep your credit balances stable, you will definitely find you have more traffic the higher your credits (the magic number with Traffic Swarm appears to be at least 4,000). The exchanges will often have other tools that will help you to increase your traffic - be sure to explore the sites to become familiar with everything they have to offer but don't get all caught up in taking advantage of ALL the extras - you could grow old trying to sort all of these out - your primary purpose here is to get your site shown as quickly as possible.

There are decided advantages to upgrading in SOME of your exchanges -- and I STRESS the word SOME, don't feel you have to upgrade in ALL of them. You'll end up Traffic Exchange Poor. Upgrade in those you find you get good results from (your hit tracker will come in handy here) because you will usually receive some bonus credits each month - saves you some of the surfing you will need to do. They will often also you credit based on the activity of your "downline" if you build one. It makes good sense then to at least upgrade in your Traffic Swarm, we promote it in the Success Guide and it is often the first exposure our new members get to the exchanges, therefore you have the potential to fund your own account.

Again, you will find the exchanges are a very good, short term solution for traffic to your sites. I would not recommend you depend solely on traffic exchanges for your marketing. You want to implement as many of the other activities in the Success Guide as quickly as you can, as quickly as you can to start generating that "organic" traffic we have heard so much about. This will come primarily from your forum postings, blogs and articles. -- More on that on another day

Autoresponders

Autoresponders are, without a doubt, your best friend, your secretary if you will. With our PIF4P system we have two, Response Magic and Traffic Oasis.

For those unaware, our autoresponders will automatically start to go to work for you as soon as there has been a new entry to the data base, ie when someone signs up, as you did, to one of your websites or new "leads" have been added to the data base either electronically or manually.

Initially we will discuss abit about Response Magic. First and foremost, I need to register some bias here - I LOVE this program. As you become more familiar with it, I trust it will also become YOUR best friend. It does SO much work for us.

Your home edition of Response Magic will automatically followup with all of the new contacts you receive as a result of the marketing you will be doing for your websites. When you signed up and received your own website, your sponsor's autoresponder (Response Magic) automatically went to work and started sending you messages.

There is a bit of work to be done to ensure all is functioning properly though. You need to visit the Success Guide and go through Day 1 and get your RM autoresponder upgraded and your messages loaded into your PIF4P "list", then you want to do the same for your "CFM Prospecting Newsletter" and your “3 Step Secret” following the same procedure. The 3 Step Secret messages are not available just yet, so you need to remember to go back and do this as soon as they are.

Once you have done this, go to http://responsemagic.com, log in with the username and password you received, and spend a few minutes getting to know the "control panel".

On the home page, on the right hand side, there is an icon (looks like a filmstrip), that links you to the Response Magic tutorials - these are very good, take a few minutes and go through at least the tutorials on "settings". This will definitely be time well spent.

Personal Settings: complete the form as best you can. There are merge fields used in your messages, the information entered here will be inserted in all the places that have these merge codes. The field for “~~ownerswebsite~~” should be completed with your Cashflow123 url. When complete you must “update” your information. You will need to edit the messages in your PIF4P list to substitute your PayItForward4Profits url.

In your "List Settings" you will notice you have multiple lists - there is a specific order to the first three lists that must be maintained
List #1 - CFM Prospecting Newsletter
List #2 - PIF4P
List #3 - reserved for 3 Step Secret.

Be sure you do not mess with the order of these lists - they are, in essence, "hard wired" to each of the corresponding websites, if they are not in this order, your contacts are getting the wrong list of messages.

Ali's Tip - manually add yourself as a contact to each of your lists in both of your autoresponders, it will give you that added reassurance that your messages are in fact being received as you will also get a copy.

Traffic Oasis - you will find an excellent tutorial for preloading your Traffic Oasis autoresponder under the “Training”, “Internet Tools Training” tab in the back office of PIF4P. There are also many notes and references in the members forum, so I won’t keep you tied up here.

I want to leave you with this last bit of advice - preload and test your autoresponder messages BEFORE you start marketing, it will save you a lot of grief.

The "Success Guide"

Well, you've got through the "Crash Course" audio, you've gone through the tutorials, now you are onto the Success Guide. Our job now is to market the three websites we have received in order to build a strong, successful business, and we are going to use the techniques outlined in the Guide to implement our Funded Sponsoring system.

Now, I want to start by clarifying the purpose of our three sites.
http://3stepsecret.com/username is the site we use to target the business opportunity seeker market, the newbies if you will (I say this with all due respect, if you are a "newbie", you won't be one for long.)
http://cashflow123.com/username is the site we use to target the more experienced business person, someone with a bit of experience with a homebased business and perhaps some network marketing background.
http://payitforward4profits.com/username is our primary site to target the experienced online/network marketer that is in need of a "system" to market a primary business they currently have or to join you in the primary you are promoting.

First and foremost, I want to suggest you look at the Success Guide as though you have just enrolled in an extension course at your local community college. This is your text book, these are your assignments. Unlike your community college though, there is no deadline for the completion of you assignments - this is self paced learning. That being said, the sooner you have completed your assignments, the sooner your business will be on a good, solid foundation that will grow at a steady pace.

It is important that you work through each of the assignments thoroughly. Your practical knowledge will grow with each step. As I have said previously, this is a journey, you will travel to a number of different places and you will stay at each them for as long as you need to take in all the sights.

While each activity in the Success Guide is labelled as a "day" - do not take this too literally. There will be some "days" that take a bit more time to complete. We are each individuals, all with different learning styles. There will be some material you will absorb more rapidly than others. Some activities you will implement immediately, while others you will choose to come back and revisit them at a later date. The important thing here is to DO. Your business will not develop if you simply read and reread the Guide. You must ACT. Get busy, plan to put into place any and all the activities you can, as quickly as you can, in order to get the momentum building. The traffic will not magically appear. The old adage "If it's meant to be, it's up to me" hold especially true here.

Now, you want to work through Day 1 of the Success Guide, read everything carefully and get your autoresponder upgraded. You will follow the instructions regarding preloading your messages for both your PayItForward4Profits "list" as well as your Cashflow123 "list" (substituting CFM for PIF4P). You now have two campaigns ready to receive visitors coming to your website.

I would like to welcome you to my team blog.

This space if for me to share some of the tips and tricks I have discovered as I have traveled the path we share. Some of you will undoubtedly pass me along the road, and folks that's more than okay, but while we share the road, I'd like to save you some of the potholes I've inadvertently slipped into.

First and foremost I want you to know, I am willing to help each and everyone of you, the operative word here being "help." If you are new to marketing online this will definitely be a bumpy ride, but I assure you there is pavement ahead and before you know it you will be traveling on at a fair clip. If you are willing to learn (and perhaps even relearn) and willing to be coachable, you will succeed.

So lets start at the beginning, you've just visited one of my sites, signed up and received your own replicated website. It's really exciting you've taken the first step to making major changes in your life and I'd like to help your through the transition as easily as possible.

When your website was created for you, it also comes with two siblings. You therefore have three sites, all created with the username and password you chose when you first signed up.
They have the following format (be sure to substitute your username for mine):

These are the three sites we will use to market your business. They each have a specific purpose (more on that later.) For the time being your concern is getting access to your members' area and the "Success Guide." With this in mind, I want you to go to the website below and log in with your username and password:

Now for a bit of homework: today you need to concentrate on getting to know your way around the members' area. You will notice a "button" in the middle of the screen labeled "Getting Started Checklist" - logic tells us this is a good place to start. You will find the "Getting Started Audio" under the "Affiliate" section "Set Up Your Complete Funded Sponsoring System" (you want to read this thoroughly and listen to the audio.)

Your next task is to have a listen to the "Crash Course" under the "Training" tab - it will fully explain Funded Sponsoring, why we use it and why it is successful (budget about an hour for this).

Now, I suggest you again visit the "Training" tab, go to "Internet Training Tools" and work through the four tutorials you will find there. These will give you a good understanding of the website itself and how to navigate through everything as easily as possible.

I know it's taken us a bit of time to get here, but now I want to you go to the "Marketing" tab. There you will find the "Success Guide". This is your bible if you will, for online marketing. As you work through the Guide you are going to learn SO much. Don't let any of this overwhelm you, none of it is HARD, there's just lots.

Remember, this is a journey we take one step at a time, one foot in front of the other. We will travel far on this journey, sometimes staying in one place longer than others, sometimes taking detours to come back to someplace we missed along the way. We will however, stop at every point of interest, enjoy them and above all have fun.
